Research profile / Current work

Loretta G. Platts is an interdisciplinary researcher in the fields of gerontology, epidemiology and sociology.

Her current research focusses on how individuals’ pathways to retirement relate to their current circumstances and personal biographies, within contrasting national contexts. Another research interest concerns inequalities in health and well-being in mid-life and old age, which she examines from cross-national and life course perspectives.

In studying these themes, Loretta works with large prospective cohorts from both Eastern and Western Europe.
